with These Features
Short story mode
Tap on the Weightlifting icon, then scroll down to the Book icon to enter the Short Story mode. There will be short stories to choose from under various topics.
Unlock each short story as you accomplish each chapter. You can play the short story again to review vocabulary or sentence patterns to get a clearer picture on how the sentence is used in everyday life.
Vocabulary review mode
When you tap on the Card icon within the Weightlifting category, you’ll see all the vocabularies that you’ve learned in the Duolingo app. You can use this mode to review vocabularies, by playing a vocabulary matching game. Press Start to play the matching game and earn extra XP each time.
Note that the XP points can also be used in the weekly trophy leagues to compete with other players too.
Speaking mode
When you tap on the Microphone icon within the Weightlifting category, you'll enter the Pronunciation Mode. There you'll need to read the sentence on the screen out loud. This mode can only be played if you have your microphone turned on. You will need to allow Duolingo to connect to the microphone on your phone. To do this, please go to the 'Settings' mode on your phone.
The goal of this speaking mode is to practice pronunciation. The words will turn from white to blue when you pronounced correctly. This can help you test your accent and pronunciation to build your confidence in speaking German.
Mistake correction mode
In this mode, you will see all the sentence mistakes you made in the past.
You can use this mode to give it another attempt to rectify them. Duolingo will reveal the correct answer every time you get the answer incorrect. You can learn from your mistakes and review past sentences, which will help with your German language learning. All the mistakes are within the app and are private to you. So, you can make as many mistakes as you would like and learn from them. There is no need to feel embarrassed upon making mistakes, unlike in-class learning.
